Now there is a site called "waybackmachine" I believe and it stores cached copies of a lot of esoteric sites, but only for a limited amount of time. I would say are definitely a lot of things that are lost on the internet and likely will never resurface because of the lack of popularity or that it was not cataloged in the first place. i am rarely on Facebook any more, and what little of the internet I do use is mostly researching and interacting here on FA. There are programs that are download helpers and it is no different if you spent hours downloading the stuff yourself from FA, but I do that with things like Skype, your PC keeps a log and Skype likely has a log somewhere, but because of privacy laws it is illegal to view them without just cause. This journal has now been mirrored on my DeviantArt page, just in case the FA moderators decide to silence me. There's also this archive website which has some folders for several more websites, including IB and e621, although DA is not on there yet. Just replace 'fender' in the URL with any FA username and see what you find. And via Onion City, you can access it on a regular browser. Some clever guy is maintaining a mirror of FA's galleries and hosting it on Tor. Sometimes the Tor tunnels or the archive itself goes down (error 500, 503 etc). Well, now you can, with this resource: ( alternative URL: ) I've even seen people do this several times over the course of a year.ĭon't you sometimes wish you could just turn back the clock for a moment and grab what you can before they took such destructive actions? Or have you done this yourself and wish you could retrieve a backup? Or they move accounts, or split their gallery into two accounts. So, they might delete old art without warning, or nuke their entire gallery and leave altogether, only to return a month later and re-upload (if you're lucky) most of it again. If you've been on FA, DA or other art sites long enough, you'll know some of the most talented artists are also the most emotionally unstable, or have the most frustrating obsessive compulsive desire to 'tidy things up'.
