We will see how these limits play out in the retail version of the game. Overall I think it is good though as attacking houses can sometimes be a good strategic option especially if you find a clump of them and have some seige handy (follow this up with a strong attack and it can often be deadly) Also the limit on houses can be a real pain for a norse player as you tend to build them in wierd locations and they are often vulerable, as a result in the middle of a pitched battle you sometimes see your pop limit dropping which can be annoying. The races in AOW2 were all very interesting as were the units they used.
The castle limit can be annoying (in DM more so then RM me thinks) as I have reached it in a few games but in most games it is not a problem. I had great hopes for AOW3 but the improvements that have taken place have. I will mention stats, special abilities, will give some personal thoughts on the units and will sometimes offer some strategic advice on how to use them the most efficient.

I can see the limit on vils as it prevents one person from developing an economy that is soooo large that they can just flood the enemy with units and win.
